Family Constellations is a classical psychotherapy that uses a phenomenological, transgenerational, systemic, and integrative approach to the evolution of the person and the systems of which they are a part.
It is phenomenological because much of the content of its theoretical foundation, and especially its technical approach, is rooted in the principles of phenomenology and existentialism.
It is transgenerational because part of its technical analysis focuses on biopsychic-behavioral influences that can span multiple family generations.
It is systemic because it focuses on the intrasystemic (e.g., mind-body relationship), intersystemic (interpersonal relationships), and extrasystemic (social and historical influences) of each individual.
It is integrative because it integrates techniques and rationales from psychology (e.g., cognitive, psychoanalytic, and humanistic), linguistics (e.g., inference, semantics, pragmatics), and biology (e.g., epigenetics and morphic fields).
It is classical because it takes into account the psyché, i.e. the dimension of being, of the human being, commonly and classically called «soul» or «spirit.» It therefore also includes an ontological approach.
